Accidental Intention
Great read
September 2009, Tarkwa.
Kwansima was seething with anger. She had had it! Her father was becoming more and more unbearable to live with, with every passing day. Yes, she was 28 but she didn’t need him to remind her everyday that she needed to get married soon. For the third time this week, he had threatened to kick her out of the house for her to find somewhere else to live. Papa hadn’t always been like this- Mama losing the battle with breast cancer had left him bitter and easily irritable.
She walked down the dusty road, lost in thought. The noise from the cock fight nearby startled her. People had gathered around the two cocks and they were shouting their approval for one cock or the other. Cock fights scared her a little. They were a little too intense for her liking. It didn’t even make sense to…

I AM, FOR WE ARE! #ubuntu #theCommunitySpirit
It all started as a very dawdling weekend. I came back from my morning jog, hopped on to my solitary life back into the comfort of my pillows and waded myself to a slow nap. I was exhausted, not really digging the urge to even wash my sweaty self down, yes sweaty to the ‘T’. … Continue reading I AM, FOR WE ARE! #ubuntu #theCommunitySpirit
Bride Price Ordeal
Mention the word “marriage” and its related “privileges” right now in my home country and you are in for some serious bubbling of controversial controversies garnished with real up-the-throat heightened emotions as toppings. Some context for those who don’t know what Jollof rice is: Jollof rice is one of the 7 wonders of Africa. The list goes: Nelson Mandela, Cape Town, Jollof Rice, Senegalese Twists, Lupita Nyong’o, Shea Butter, and P Square. People might disagree with this list (feel free to add your own list in the comments section. Don’t curtly state your disagreement and move on, ok? Don’t be rude), but the point is that Jollof rice is a BIG deal.(Horrible) songs have been written about Jollof rice. Case in point: this god-awful song by Fuse ODG:
Jollof rice has even caused a diplomatic tension/Cold War of sorts between Nigeria and Ghana over who actually owns this dish (it actually originated in Senegal, but I’m sleep).
In Nigeria, Jollof rice is sacred. It is not just the…

You have been scarred so much you wonder how this weal could ever disappear. They might have hurt you with their words, actions or probably, inactions but forgive me to ask this, “…and so … Continue reading Let them go!
CAN HE EVER BE?
In my constant internet rifles, I chanced on this photograph. At first glance, I was highly inspired hence went right ahead and saved it for further scrutiny. Later as I got back to this photograph to take a profounder look, a number of thoughts started flooding my already dense brain. Looking at this chap, the … Continue reading CAN HE EVER BE?
